Dynafit black light pro5/18/2023 ![]() ![]() On some occasions I do find myself wanting a bit more of a beefy material on the pole strap for some added comfort as they do tend to slip slightly overtime under load. Thankfully, Dynafit incorporated some low profile easy to adjust pole straps that fit the bill nicely as well as a pleasant extended foam grip to fit all my steep skiing needs. As much I loved the famed Les batons ‘d Alain poles I found my inner skimo racer always trying to shine through and desiring the advantage of pole straps to help with upward propulsion but still wanting a lower foam grip on the shaft that would make me perform jump turns like Andrew McLean. Dynafit added a Kevlar carbon lower shaft which was quite a noticeable difference comparted to other carbon poles I’ve used in the past even after days of technical booting and chuting. Having spent most of my backcountry days out this season on the Blacklight Pro pole I was pleasantly surprised with it's overall durability and features. So, I was excited to see the Dynafit Blacklight Pro pole land on Skimo Co’s shelf early last fall. Update 2022/23: New graphics and a white basket for those that prefer a more stealth mode in a snowy landscape.įor me, the ideal backcountry ski pole should be light, stiff, durable, and ideally some sort of lower grip for choking up when side hilling or for linking jump turns. The Kevlar carbon lower shaft ensures damage resistance from your ski edges and the carbon upper shaft shaves grams but adds stiffness and reliability. These poles are made of some of the strongest materials on the market. More good news lightweight doesn't mean light on durability. Featuring a longer grip zone to allow for easy movement on sidehills and in the steeps, vertical gain is the name of the game for this fast and light accessory piece. The Blacklight+ has two riser heights you can operate quickly and easily with your pole. ![]() With the Blacklight+ Binding, you’re not only the first to the summit but you’re also the first back down again. At the same time, it increases lateral stability on the descent. Meaning fast as lightening you are fully ready to get going. The Step-In Side Towers make entry into the toe piece more than 30% easier. With its perfect bayonet positive lock at the heel unit, an extremely high power transfer from binding to ski is achieved for increased responsiveness and downhill performance. It features 10 mm of flex in its length adjustment and thus enables it to fit various sole lengths. With the Blacklight+, the characteristics of a lightweight ascent-oriented binding have been combined with the advantages of a classic ski touring binding. Counter clockwise langer5/18/2023 ![]() ![]() We see a rat and show signs of fear as our pulse races and sweat breaks out on our skin we think about losing a significant other and our blood pressure increases we watch someone vomit and we feel nauseous ourselves. While we easily see evidence of the connection, it’s not well understood. It raised a nagging question: “What is the nature of the link from the nonmaterial mind to the material body?” Examples of this connection are all around us. Although we couldn’t make an airtight case, subsequent research would bear out our original understanding. Our research had taken place at the beginning of what was later termed the “New Age” movement and well before mind/body studies were conducted in laboratories around the country. Our explanation was that the results were due to the power of making choices and the increased personal control it affords. Over the next several years, I spent a lot of time thinking about what had happened. Allowing for the fact that they were all elderly and quite frail at the start, we were pleased that they were also much healthier: we were surprised, however, that less than half as many of the more engaged group had died than had those in the control group. A year and a half later, we found that members of the first group were more cheerful, active, and alert, based on a variety of tests we had administered both before and after the experiment. Our intent was to make the nursing home residents more mindful, to help them engage with the world and live their lives more fully.Ī second, control group received no such instructions to make their own decisions they were given houseplants but told that the nursing staff would care for them. ![]() Each also chose a houseplant to care for, and they were to decide where to place the plant in their room, as well as when and how much to water it. For example, they were allowed to choose where to receive visitors, and if and when to watch the movies that were shown at the home. In the 1970s my colleague Judith Rodin and I conducted an experiment with nursing home residents.1 We encouraged one group of participants to find ways to make more decisions for themselves. Once sickness is upon us, we give ourselves over to modern medicine and hope for the best. Chronic illnesses take their toll, our health and strength diminish accordingly, and the best we can do is graciously accept our fate. There’s no way to turn back the clock or to fight the inevitable. We age and the vigor of youth becomes only a memory as we are ravaged by time. What we need is not the will to believe, but the wish to find out. –William Wordsworth "synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title. ![]() A hopeful and groundbreaking work by an author who has changed how people all over the world think and feel, Counterclockwise is sure to join Mindfulness as a standard source on new-century science and healing. Provocative and riveting, Counterclockwise offers a transformative and bold new paradigm: the psychology of possibility. Improved vision, weight loss, and increased longevity are just three of the results that Langer has demonstrated. With only subtle shifts in our thinking, in our language, and in our expectations, she tells us, we can begin to change the ingrained behaviors that sap health, optimism, and vitality from our lives. If we could turn back the clock psychologically, could we also turn it back physically?įor more than thirty years, award-winning social psychologist Ellen Langer has studied this provocative question, and now, in Counterclockwise, she presents a conclusive answer: Opening our minds to what’s possible, instead of presuming impossibility, can lead to better health-at any age.ĭrawing on landmark work in the field and her own body of highly original experiments-including her “counterclockwise” study, in which elderly men lived for a week as though it was 1959 and showed dramatic improvements in their hearing, memory, dexterity, appetite, and general well-being-Langer shows that the magic of rejuvenation and ongoing good health lies in being aware of the ways we mindlessly react to social and cultural cues.Įxamining the intricate but often defeatist ways we define our physical health, Langer challenges the idea that the limits we assume and impose on ourselves are real. ![]()

Rainbow six extraction g2a5/18/2023 ![]() ![]() You can see what the current Study objective is when selecting a map in Quick Play, and they come in sets of three. Studies are optional objectives that are unique for each of the regions in the game but are actually worth some of the highest XP payouts in Rainbow Six Extraction. ![]() These also apply to Nests as well, so not only will doing a melee takedown grant you more XP for killing the Nest, but you will also save plenty of very valuable ammo in the process. Other methods to earn additional XP per kill include killing scanned enemies, hitting their weak points, and getting headshots. This will give you an additional XP bonus. If you’re feeling extra sneaky and the opportunity presents itself, go for a stealth melee takedown. ![]() As long as you have a gun with a silencer equipped, which you always should, then simply make sure you’re in the crouched position when you pop an alien’s head to get a sweet XP bonus. Stealth kills are simple in Rainbow Six Extraction. Stealth kills are the most consistent to take advantage of, but also should be part of your plan since going in guns blazing isn’t a recommended tactic when the hoards start rushing you. However, there are plenty of bonuses you can, and should, take advantage of to make each kill worth your while. Stealth-kill everythingĮvery Archaean you kill will give you a small XP reward, with stronger ones giving a bit more than the fodder enemies. So, not only will you need to swap to a different one and have to go on a rescue mission, but you also lose all that potential XP they could have earned. The second is that failing to extract means that the Operator becomes MIA. However, that Operator won’t earn any XP if they don’t get extracted. We already mentioned that you earn XP for yourself and the specific Operator you’re using on that mission. The two most important parts about extracting, aside from the XP multiplier, of course, relate to your operator. Even if you just do one objective and earn 1,000 XP (assuming you’re on the medium difficulty level) and extract, that will still net you 1,900 XP by extracting. It will give you an extra 90% of your ending XP, which is obviously close to doubling your final take. This is because each time you get a safe extraction in Rainbow Six Extraction, you will earn the Extraction Bonus multiplier for however much XP you managed to gather up until that point. Even if it means you can’t complete all the objectives, ensuring you make it out alive is worth way more than potentially finishing one more task but not making it out. Making a safe extraction from every mission should be your top priority when trying to get as much XP as you can. They didn’t put the word “extraction” in the title for nothing.

Alchemistry mod custom.xml5/17/2023 ![]() The definition of an is composed of 5 main parts: the c attribute, the i attribute, the m attribute, the n attribute, and the s attribute. The tag, I being for instance, is the main opening tag for instances (not necessarily in the Python sense, which I will cover more later) of tuning classes - that is to say, it’s the tag used to define things like Snippets, Buffs, Commodities, Interactions, Traits, etc. ![]() In this section, I will overview how these three tags function within the context of XML tuning for the Sims 4. What makes and unique, and to an extent, is that they are the main “building blocks” of tuning files: they are the top-level tag, and all other tags must be contained within either an or a within an. is a little special in that it is only found within the tag, but it also functions differently than the other XML tuning tags do, and for this reason I am grouping it here with and. The, , and tags can be thought of as “high-level” tags. Here I will give a brief overview of what each tag means in the context of the tuning files. There are 5 main tags the tunables within an XML file take ( V, U, L, T, and E), as well as a few special tags (namely I, M, and C). In this section I will go over a broad explanation of how these XML files are designed and set up, focusing at the moment just on the entities purely as XML files. The game’s XML that is used to define things like interactions, buffs, traits, etc. Understanding how these files are defined is particularly pertinent for those modders who wish to create custom tuning, but may also be of interest for the casual modder who simply wants to better understand the codebase of the game they are tampering with. The answer is that these files are defined in the game’s core Python files. However, the curious and astute may wonder how the game knows what XML is valid and what is not. Most modders may just simply accept the fact that the XML tuning is the way it is, and that the tuning may change between versions of the game. These XML tuning files come in many forms, but the ones most useful to the “everyday” modder come in the form of pure text-based XML files that define everything from the interactions in the game to the moodlets Sims can receive. In this section, I will go over the basics of XML tuning tags and how to interpret what they mean.įor those unfamiliar to Sims 4 modding, pretty much the entire game - at least the portion that modders have access to - is stored in the form of compressed XML tuning files. These articles will assume you have some understanding of XML tuning and Python scripting as it pertains to the Sims 4 codebase, but I will try my best to explain things in a way that doesn’t force you to know Python in depth. Mastering these two frames of mind is crucial to having an intimate understanding of how to modify the game’s code using Python scripting - and how to design your own custom XML tuning as well! In this this series of articles, I am going to take a deep dive into both sides of the loading equation, seeing both the Python that goes into defining the tuning, as well as how the XML tuning gets transformed into Python. While it’s often hidden from the end-user (and to an extent, modders), The Sims 4 contains an extensive amount of external data, mostly in the form of XML tuning files, that gets dynamically loaded into the game by Python. The Sims 4 is an extremely data-driven game. The reason you need all new settings is because Immersive Armors 7 changes a lot of things under the hood, like, for instance: EVERY SINGLE EDID.Sims 4 Tuning 101: A Deep Dive into how Tuning is Generated from Python - Part 1 The reason for this is that Lootification doesn't like having settings for the same file in both Lootification.xml and Custom.xml, and will crash with a cryptic error message. Completely remove the old Hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.esp section from to.CTRL-F and find "Hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.esp".Open your Lootification.xml (Not Custom.xml). ![]() Immersive Armors 7(.1!): I also have settings for Immersive Armors 7 which are included (7.1 is a seperate download, but do it the same way), but those have to be handled slightly differently:To use them, unlike the other settings, you must: The first is better if you've already lootified some stuff and don't want to lose your work, but it's up to you. Bitcasa version 0.9.20.41355/17/2023 ![]() (Windows (R) Win 7 DDK provider) C:\Program Files (x86)\Bluetooth Suite\AdminService.exe () C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG Web TuneUp\WtuSystemSupport.exe (If an entry is included in the fixlist, the process will be closed. I'm excited about this product, but like many users I think, I'll be scared to use it at first.= Processes (Whitelisted) = There will be a quick way to "cloudify" any directory, except your boot files, Gauda says. The product should be out "in a couple of months" for OS X first, and then Windows. The 8-person company has raised $1.3 million and counts Andreessen Horowitz and the CrunchFund as its backers. With cheap bandwidth and cheap storage, it works. ![]() The company is aggressive about data de-duplication, and furthermore, most users have less than 25GB of data. Gauda says he can make this business work at $10 a month with unlimited storage. "We want the hard drive you just bought to be the last one you need." Apple's iCloud will be, at best, an online mirror of your local storage, with limits. But, Gauda says, nobody is going to offer what he's doing. There are also big competitors to worry about: The mythical GDrive, for example, and Apple's imminent iCloud storage product. Gauda says that, actually, the company is working on technology to help Web app developers shunt data between services, again using the Bitcasa "drive" as a consumer's main storage space. So while Bitcasa is cool and useful, I do wonder how long that will be the case. Bitcasa lets you share your files among your computers, or with friends and co-workers.īut more importantly, there's the fact that consumers are actually moving to more native Web apps, like Google Docs, Yahoo Mail, and Flickr, not to mention smartphones and tablets that often don't have user-accessible file systems. Even if the network is secure, though, there's the perception that it may not be Dropbox's June security flop still weighs on this sector.Īlso, as Gauda says, "We can't make single-user products multiuser." So if you use a Bitcasa drive for an app like Outlook or iTunes, and try to access that file from multiple computers at once, you might have problems. Bitcasa encrypts everything end to end and in the cloud, so absent a password hack, the data can't leave the system. Whether it's actually there is another matter, but if Bitcasa is fast and smart enough, you'll never know nor care.ĬEO Tony Gauda confirmed for me that there are some large challenges to bringing a product like this to market. Users also get all their data on all their devices, and every time you get a new computer, you just point it to your account and all your data appears on your local device. With Bitcasa, in concept anyway, users no longer have to worry about a single local hard-drive failure eating their data, since everything is mirrored on the Internet. Readers who follow me know how much I'm a fan of apps and services that synchronize local storage to the cloud, so they won't be surprised that I really like this idea. (A free version will be "less than unlimited," the company says). ![]() ![]() Bitcasa will cost $10 a month with no storage cap for users. If the technology works, this architecture should give you storage that's just as fast as a local-only hard drive, but with more capacity and reliability. Your local hard drive is used-heavily-for the cache. With this product, your main storage is actually in the "cloud," and because of that, it's pretty much unlimited. Technically, it's a virtualized primary storage company. ![]() |
